Senior Ensemble is open to students in school grades 10, 11 and 12.

This ensemble offers young actors the opportunity to dive deeper into theatre craft.

Playing with different styles, texts & various practitioners’ methods, students will play, evolve and create both in class and on the end-of-term production. Using more challenging play texts and more advanced techniques and exercises, students will hone their talents and grow their skill set in these classes, preparing them for professional stage work.

We equip our students to feel confident in auditions, know how to approach a text, how to be creative, playful and respectful in rehearsal and of course to perform beautifully on stage with dynamism, control and JOY!

Over four school terms, ensemble members’ learning covers five key areas:

  • voice/delivery
  • movement/physicality
  • staging
  • character/text work
  • artistic/personal development.
.

With all this in mind every term, each term’s work centres around one main focus, introducing various different practitioners’ ideas along the way.

  • Term 1 – Improvisation & Devising
  • Term 2 – Scene Work
  • Term 3 – Building Character

Young Actors Stage Ensembles

We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw

At the heart of the Young Actors Ensemble is a simple idea. Play is the foundation of all great acting.

At The National Drama School, the Young Actors Ensemble offers a dynamic and supportive space for young people to explore performance across stage and screen. With ensembles for Pre Junior, Junior, Intermediate and Senior students, each actor is met at their level while becoming part of a collaborative and creative ensemble.

In the studio, students are encouraged to be curious, bold and imaginative. Through practical, skills-based training, they develop voice, movement, text work, devising and on camera technique. They learn to trust their instincts, take creative risks and build their own artistic voice.

Students work with trained industry professionals and working artists, bringing current, real world practice into every class. This ensures training is relevant, rigorous and inspiring.

Our work is grounded in Care, Excellence and Community. We create an environment where students feel supported, challenged and connected. A space where confidence grows, creativity is nurtured and collaboration thrives.

The Young Actors Ensemble is about more than performance. It is about building confidence, resilience and a lasting connection to creativity.

Join us at The National Drama School and begin your journey.
